Duties/Responsibilities
Continuous improvement around the reorganisation and modernisation of supply chain activities.
Create and implement a supply chain strategy.
Change order placing procurement culture into a proactive environment.
Negotiate and place commercial terms and purchasing agreements to set up long term agreements with suppliers.
Vigorously control costs against project defined targets and bid estimates.
Ensure that all materials are handled in a timely manner to ensure they are managed in accordance with project requirements and the financial materials forecast.
Constantly problem-solve against material supply and supply chain issues.
Responsible for inventory and stock turns, as well as the control and monitoring of inbound logistics.
Monitoring market situations and implementing plans to minimise risks and capitalise on opportunities.
Assess existing subcontract base, supplier selection, development and removal from supply list in line with the supplier rationalisation programme.
Develop Purchasing KPI’s including schedule adherence, overdue purchase orders, and overdue requisitions and purchase price variance.
Develop team working and multi-tasking skills within the Function to maximise labour efficiencies.
Create and maintain a cost database, which includes all current and past products for use in bids and estimates.
Support the New Product Introduction process alongside key functions of the business.
Manage personal development of key individuals within the Purchasing Function to ensure a strong motivated team is in place.
Previous experience in senior supply chain or procurement role and in line management.
Background in electronics and electromechanical manufacturing.
Experience in working with product having a high technical content manufactured in low volume, high value batch production environment.
Experience with change management and setting up new procurement systems.
Extensive knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
ONC/HNC Elect/ or Mech. engineering.
You will be a CIPS Corporate Member or equivalent, a good communicator, well organised, approachable, resilient and an effective manager of people.
Strategic thinker, results focused and success orientated with good negotiation skills.
Professional in appearance and conduct, confident and self-assured.
