Job Elements: -
• Manage the design of the product from concept through to production and end of life.
• To ensure all requirements (customer and internal) are optimized within the design to provide a robust product that can be manufactured within the agreed targets.
• To provide models, drawings and technical expertise to support offers to customer RFQ’s (Requests for Quotation).
• Preparation of schemes, models, assembly and detail drawings using the systems below in accordance with departmental procedures for product design and manufacturing process.
• Modification/amendment of existing drawings in accordance with design standards, capturing manufacturing requirements.
• Production of design related documents, i.e. engineering change requests (ECR’s), to reflect and support drawings.
• Data transfer of models & drawings to customers and suppliers in accordance with company protocols.
• Design liaison across multi-functional teams that will include customers and suppliers which could involve foreign travel.
• Creation, issue and up-dating of the DFMEA for each product
The ideal candidate will have:
• Qualified to HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline/degree preferable.
• A minimum of 4 - 5 years design experience in a similar role, preferably with an automotive background.
• CATIA v5 CAD package and Microsoft Office 2003 experience essential, Pro-Engineer/Wildfire desirable.
• Must hold a current driving licence.
• Must be prepared & able to travel within the UK and abroad.
